Genesis was later renamed Vixen to prevent confusion with the same-named English band before breaking up in 1974. A bandmate of hers during that year was Nancy Shanks. After a six-year hiatus she reformed Vixen and shortly moved her band to Los Angeles in 1981, 5 and, in 1983, singer Janet Gardner joined her. Vixen are an all-female American rock band. They have sometimes been referred to as the 'female Bon Jovi'. They achieved commercial success during the late 1980s and early 1990s as part of the Los Angeles, California glam metal scene. Vixen was formed in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1980 by guitarist Jan Kuehnemund while still in high school. Vixen is an all-female rock band who had numerous hits on their first two albums in the late 80's/early 90's. Their hits included Edge Of A Broken Heart, Cryin', How Much Love and Love Is A Killer. The band split at the height of their success, following their second release, Rev It Up due to creative differences with regards to songwriting.
