DEXED is a DX7 synthesizer emulation originally developed by Yamaha in the 1980s that used FM synthesis (Frequency Modulation). The DX7 was one of the most common synths of it’s day and featured on tracks by Duran Duran, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Scritti Politti, Chaka Khan – almost necessary in 80’s pop – as well as Eno, Aphex Twins, Vangelis.
With device emulations such as DEXED, FM synthesis is also used by contemporary musicians such as Skrillex and Squarepusher. DEXED comes with 7 banks and 32 presets for each branch. The original DEXED was created by Pascal Gauthier from Digital Surburban and published as an immensely popular free VST. Implementation of WAM by Jari Kleimola.
